General Counselor Information

The mission of Bear Valley Kids Camp is to provide a safe, fun filled program that is based on Christian values and teachings. To provide children with the basic knowledge and support, to go out into their worlds and carry the Truth with them. Bear Valley Kids Camp will require approximately 18 counselors per week, for two weeks. Applicants may request to work one or more weeks of camp.

Successful Applicant Requirements

  1. Counselors must be 15 years or older.
  2.  A servant’s heart reflected in a willing attitude.
  3.  A desire to be in a ministry team dedicated to drawing young people to faith in Jesus Christ.
  4.  Must participate in a weekly Bible study
  5.  Good health in order to meet the physical demands of camp activities & ability to participate in all activities.
  6.  A commitment to fulfill requested dates and times.
  7. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and involvement in a church of youth group.

Applicant Interviews

All applicants will be interviewed by a telephone session.   If you do not receive an interview, your application may be dismissed.
Once you have been interviewed, you will need to attend a counselor training & set-up session. 
The training session will be on JUNE 17,  9 a.m-4 p.m
Training sessions are mandatory; even returning counselors are required to attend!

Counselor Duties Summary

  1. The counselor will be a role model to the campers by sharing their love for children and Jesus Christ.
  2. The counselor must demonstrate maturity and personal concern for the safety and happiness of campers.
  3. The counselor must assist, encourage and respect other counselors.
  4. Counselors must arrive to camp by 8:00 am (Mondays @ 7:30) and work until 3:30 pm,unless dismissed earlier by Director.
  5. Fridays you must stay to help clean up for the week, which may require later hours!
